AirTel,copyrights registration agent to shut down over privacy concerns

Airtel has said it will shut down its online services and cease using its registration agent.
The announcement came on Wednesday, less than two weeks before the end of its year-long shutdown due to concerns about privacy concerns over the registration agent’s data collection practices.
Airtel has been the target of multiple investigations by the European Commission, the US Federal Trade Commission and the UK’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the country’s main privacy watchdog.
It said in a statement that it would continue to operate the registration service in countries where the company is legally permitted to do so, and that its “public safety and privacy responsibilities” would be protected.
AirTel said it was in the process of contacting other companies that offer online services in the European Union and will continue to do business there.
